Day of Caring
Each year, Rowan County United Way sets aside a Day of Caring, when volunteers from numerous companies across thecommunity come together to complete projects for local schools and non-profit agencies. Projects include such tasks as landscaping, painting and building. Hundreds of volunteers turn out each year to make this initiative a success.
Schools and non-profit agencies are urged to submit applications for projects that can be accomplished in a day. Hundreds of volunteers complete projects, representing local companies that generously allow them time off with pay to participate in these worthy activities.
Day of Caring offers a great opportunity to see United Way dollars at work.
Volunteers learn more about the school or agency that they visit. This is one of the best examples of how we can collectively make our community a better place to live.
